Fifteenth Day of the Eighth Lunar Month
In Chinese metaphysics and the lunar calendar, the full moon occurs on the fifteenth day of the lunar month. This full moon will take place on September 17, 2024.
Yin and Yang:
At the time of the full moon, Yang energy reaches its peak. In the following half of the lunar month, Yin energy increases while Yang energy begins to decline. This shift marks a gradual transition toward Yin dominance.
New Moon Meditation:
In Taoist tradition, the day of the new moon is considered ideal for fasting or adopting a vegetarian diet to cleanse the body. It is also a time for meditation. Taoists traditionally meditate during four specific time periods:
- Hour of the Rat (子): from 11 PM to 1 AM
- Hour of the Rabbit (卯): from 5 AM to 7 AM
- Hour of the Horse (午): from 11 AM to 1 PM
- Hour of the Rooster (酉): from 5 PM to 7 PM
